IMPACT // A Word From Our Co-Founder

I needed this picture this morning, for me it’s a personal spark behind what I get to do with my life everyday. You, like me, are getting bombarded with brands and their sales happening right now, we at Parker Clay are there as well. It’s often hard to see through the promotion and figure out what it is that we really want.

I really don’t want to go another year buying things that people will not remember, or things that have no meaning beyond the material object. I want more, I want time, I want an experience, a memory that will last, I want to know what I buy can support justice, keeps family together, and really most of all I want to end exploitation of people.

My dearest Genet was more then a friend, she was like a daughter to me. In Ethiopia we walked thru some of life’s most challenging moments together. One night in Ethiopia I got a call from her frantically telling me to come to her house. At just after midnight, I picked her up from her mud hut, took her to the hospital where she would shortly after deliver baby Birhanie (named after Brittany for her Ethiopian name). Genet's story is one of the hardest I have ever heard, and for a reason, God put her story and mine together to spark a movement in my heart and mind. Genet passed away a few years ago and it was one of the hardest things for me, so much unanswered, so many questions, so much injustice but because of Genet, I will never stop fighting for the voiceless and vulnerable because there are still out there.

For me, the holidays creates and opportunity to invite you to be part of this. As I see your orders come in from Parker Clay It’s an encouragement to know that we are working together to create a future without exploitation. Cutting through all promotion and noise, I would love to invite you to join us at Parker Clay and find out more about how we are putting an end to prostitution in Ethiopia. We see a bright future for Ethiopia and while Genet is at home in heaven, we want to give a little more of heaven on earth for those that are not there yet.
