Designed in collaboration with actress and activist, Mary-Louise Parker
An Inspired Friendship
“Mary-Louise first heard about Parker Clay when she was introduced by a friend,” says Parker Clay Co-Founder Ian Bentley. “She immediately resonated deeply with the mission of Parker Clay.” With her own daughter adopted from Ethiopia, the country held a special significance to her.”
That moment began an intercontinental friendship that would lead us on a trip to Ethiopia together with her children and our oldest daughter, Abby, who is adopted from Ethiopia. Mary-Louise completely fell in love with the talented team of men and women who craft our products in Ethiopia.”
I was already in love with the Bentley family and Parker Clay, but traveling to Ethiopia to meet the makers behind these gorgeous products was indescribable. Typically the artisans behind a product are forgotten, but at Parker Clay the artisans are celebrated, they are the motivation at the heart of the company,” says Mary-Louse.
It only seemed natural to begin the process of designing a bag together, says Co-Founder Brittany Bentley, pictured with Mary-Louise in her New York City neighborhood. “We are excited to introduce the Caroline Tote, named after Mary-Louise’s own mother. It is one of our sleekest designs yet - upscale, yet understated.”
The Caroline Tote is the first of 3 new bags we are releasing this spring in collaboration with some of our favorite celebrity ladies, all centered around honoring our mothers and the women in our lives who inspire us.
