ACCOUNTING MANAGER

Location: Santa Barbara, California
Reports to: CFO and CEO, Parker Clay LLC
Start Date: Flexible, but as soon as possible
Schedule: Full-time, typically Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM
Compensation: Salary (exempt), with PTO and sick-time, based upon experience

About the Position
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting processes in coordination and support of the CFO, and plays a key role in developing and implementing financial procedures for the financial health of the company. The Accounting Manager will be a key person on the team to take the Parker Clay brand to the highest levels of performance, establishing it as a premium high-end leather goods company while creating sustainable impact through the financial operations of the company.
Responsibilities:
The Accounting Manager will support the CFO and CEO in execution of the following duties and responsibilities:
Accounting and Tax Management
- Managing the company’s accounting software and tracking off all cash and credit accounts
- Managing wholesale/corporate sale invoices and A/R
- Managing accounts payable
- Tracking, recording, and filing sales tax payments
- Coordinate and produce all tax reporting and documentation as required
Payroll Processing and HR support
- Collecting payroll information semi-monthly and processing payroll for the company
- Managing payroll and HR compliance software to track compensation and PTO usage
- Collaborating with CFO on employee handbook compliance and processes
Operational Reporting
- Generating and providing CFO and CEO with reports that support their roles to manage:
- Sales forecasting
- Cash flow planning
- Profit margins
- Expense management
- Inventory tracking and oversight in coordination with warehouse management
- Ensure full transparency over the financial performance of the company, including key metrics for company scorecard, notably Sales performance, cost control including cost of goods sold,
- Maintaining a framework for tracking and assessing impact against defined goals
Skills:
- Proficiency in Quickbooks, Google Drive, and MS Excel
- Capable of learning and mastering new software as needed to support the company, e.g. POS software
- Able to interface through multiple forms of communication channels, e.g. Slack, Skype, Basecamp
- Able to organize and prioritize responsibilities to deliver timely completion of tasks
- Flexibility to handle changing circumstances and willingness to problem solve in an ever changing and rapidly growing company
- Works well on a team in and contributes to a healthy work environment
Experience and Education:
- Minimum 3 years in accounting role(s)
- Preferably experience in payroll processing
- Bachelor's degree or certification in relevant field
- Worked in both cash basis and accrual method accounting
- Experience in retail shop accounting and inventory tracking
At times the position will require phone calls and video conference call with the accounting team in Ethiopia. Due to the time difference, this requires occasional availability between 6am-8am.
